Guard Your Doctrine

O.K. Sunday morning…

All week long, before that sunday morning, I prepared a sermon. When Thursday came along, I got down on my face before God, and He said “Start over”.

“WHAT!? I already have a power point made and everything!” I said. But regardless, I took the sermon, and “put it in the trash”, so to speak, and started over.

“What about the Power Point?” I said. “You won’t need it”, was His reply to me. So I beganĀ  writing, like a man possessed.

Sunday Morning rolls in, and I am in the middle of a song (yes, I TRY to sing), and the electricity goes out at the Church. I finish my song acapella, and the Spirit of God takes over….I preached the entire sermon in the dark.

It was powerful. I know God was with me. And what I just realized was that had I spent the time making the power point, it would have been wasted. God KNEW we were going to lose power, you see. He saved me from hours of work…

One dear lady, whom I and my family adore, was upset with my sermon. I guess she thought I was addressing her in some way. Let me assure you I was not. I was confronting dangerous and pervasive doctrine (specifically a “No repentance” gospel, and church pluralism), and had no desire to offend anyone. But the truth is the truth. I cannot keep my mouth shut to keep peace.

You may judge for yourself though. Heres the link:

Anyway, I have three more sermons to preach this week. Keep praying…
