Rainy Days….
4. September 2008 by admin.
Well, it has been raining. A lot. In a way, this is bad, because I cannot go door to door when it’s raining (well, I suppose I could. But I am not a mailman). BUT> some good has come from it.
We (Pastor Don and I) met with the guy in charge of BCM (Baptist Collegiate Ministries) at University of Arkansas Pine Bluff. So now, on rainy days, I can cruise over there, maybe witness on campus a bit, and get acquainted with some of the students. I went for a little while today, and met a bunch of great people. I am trying to get some of them coming to our Wednesday night get together, and from there, maybe Sunday school and Service. I think it would be great to get some of these guys involved in the church.
Meanwhile, our Wednesday night program is growing. Last Wednesday, we had maybe 10 people: this week we had 20. I got a lot of pictures of the kids/teens, heres a couple…

The First Week…
1. September 2008 by admin.
Well, the first week has not gone too bad. I spent the first two days witnessing door to door around the church, and then spent the next witnessing in a slightly more affluent area. I must say, contrary to popular opinion I’m sure, the worse looking area had by far the nicer people. The “richer” area produced only two positive responses, one a teenage man who listened attentively to the gospel, and the other, sister in Christ who gave me a cold bottle of water, and some homemade brownies. YUM!
The rest of the houses in that area, were “doors slammed in face” and “Get out of my Yard” encounters.
The “rougher” area, that directly around the church, has gone great! I have been welcomed into homes and had warm greetings: all but one home.
Unfortunately, none of those I have witnessed to showed up to church today. HOWEVER> there was one plus: The young man, Bo, who my friend Stephen and I befriended, attended service and Sunday school for the first time today! While this is great news, I am afraid it was tempered by some bad news as well:Bo’s house burned down! Now, fortunately it was a rental, from what I understand, but this still leaves Him on the street. I am doing what I can, and I was pleased to see some church members here slip him some money, but PLEASE keep him in your prayers!
Anyway, until next week!

Starting!
27. August 2008 by admin.
WOW! I started witnessing door to door today, in Pine Bluff, and I have to say that by and large these are the nicest, most receptive people that I have ever witnessed to, as a group. I talked to many people who expressed interest in the Gospel, and met a lot of Christians as well.
I think I am going to enjoy my time here; the people at Immanuel Baptist church are so nice and supportive. I am even looking forward to working with the youth, something that scared me before.
In any case, Keep praying!
Till next time…

Back To Arkansas
24. August 2008 by admin.
Well, we are back in Arkansas! The Pastor at Immanuel Baptist Church offered me a 8-10 week job, evangelizing the neighborhood, and working at the Church twice a week, too. We had a bit of a harrowing trip, getting here though. Our bike rack broke on the way, and our bikes are ruined. This is a small price to pay for the chance to serve the Lord, though!
I am supposed to start evangelizing door to door starting Monday. Keep us in prayer!!

An Awesome Week…
2. August 2008 by admin.
We have had an awesome week here in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and I will be sad to leave.
Although the afternoon activities with the local youths was quite productive, the mornings were a complete bust. So switched tactics, and started witnessing door to door in the mornings, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The youth group are extremely into it.
Today, the youth group that we joined here, from our home church, decided that instead of going to play at the water park on the last day, they would spend the whole day going door to door telling people about Christ, instead. Needless to say, we were all very proud of them, though at first I must admit I was quite upset. I had been telling my 5 year old little girl that I was taking her to the Water park Friday, and when she asked the youth director about it this morning, I nearly cried…I m such a baby. Oh well.
So I and my wife decided to opt out this morning, and take our two little ones at least somewhere comparable to the water park. We ended up spending half the day playing at a local park, and observing Nature at the “Mike Huckabee” nature preserve. The kids had a lot of fun.
After lunch, we rejoined the youth group going door to door. It was an very powerful experience, not only witnessing, but seeing the youth dive in. We had several people show visible signs of contrition/repentance, and it was VERY encouraging.
Till the next one….

Wow. It is hard to find the time to get on here sometimes! Not much to write about….
Had a fund raiser, and met a wonderful couple from the Biker church in Manvel, who made a generous contribution to the ministry.
Other than that, just handing out tracts and evangelizing, like always.
Tomorrow, we are headed to Pine Bluff, Arkansas, for a one week mission trip. We will be doing back yard bible clubs, and telling some youngins about Jesus.
All for now…

Fireworks!
5. July 2008 by admin.
The Family went out to the annual 4th of July Fireworks show in Lake Jackson, Texas. My good friend Earl Pryor joined me, and together we passed out about 130 gospel tracts, as well as witnessing to some people, in just under 2 hours. I saw some more friends of mine from before I knew Christ (those seem to pop up a lot), and I spoke with one of them, while Earl spoke with some others. As always, it felt good to be out sharing the Gospel of Christ!
The evening was rounded out by sitting on a blanket, with my friend and family, and watching the show..

Been Busy….
26. June 2008 by admin.
Haven’t posted in a while> I’ve been pretty busy though…
We made a demo video for Straight Walk Ministries…still working on it, but it looks pretty good. You can view it at http://www.straightwalk.com. This is the low bandwidth version, though.
I preached two sermons Sunday, at Brazosport Baptist Temple. The morning sermon was “Reasons for this Glorious Good News”, and the evening sermon was “Discipleship: Is it optional”. I was very proud of my wife and oldest daughter: they passed out 300 fliers (which were also Gospel tracts) prior to sunday morning.
I think the morning service went much better. Find out for yourself at:

I’ve also posted some photos from when I went to T4G. You can see those here:

Been Awhile…
30. May 2008 by admin.
It has been a few weeks since I posted, but I have been kind of busy. Two different assignments to complete, not to mention everything going on with trying to sale the land and the house have left me with little time for much else.
My friend Earl Pryor joined me for some street witnessing the other day. I really like having someone with me: it is a lot easier, and more enjoyable. We passed out almost a hundred tracts, while sitting in the Gazebo at the Angleton courthouse, and we were able to spend a few minutes talking with several people about the gospel.
I also had about a 45 minute conversation with one of the Judges, Bob Maye, who happened to step out with some friends. He is a Christian guy, and it was quite an interesting conversation.
Till next time…

Last day of T4G…
19. April 2008 by admin.
Had to post one last time, to tell about the last day of the conference. Mindblowing…
The night before (Wednesday) I lay awake in bed, unable to sleep. I was filled with doubt, uncertainty about the choice I had made about selling all of our stuff, and going into full time ministry. As some are aware, some early financial setbacks have hit me and my wife, due our home buyers problem in getting financed.
Anyway, I must have prayed for at least two hours before falling asleep, pleading with the Lord to assure me I was doing the right thing.
He sent an answer, via his messenger, John Piper. Piper seemed to stare at me as he preached his message, speaking of the importance of “Radical Christian Sacrifice”, of “giving up everything and hitting the road”. His face almost glowed (no, I am not exaggerating) with the Spirit, full of contagious passion.
John Piper is a powerful (and humble!) man of God. I cannot believe I have not listened to him before this.
C.J. Mahaney finished up with a well spoken message, filled with a refreshing lightness and humor, which was a good close for the conference.
In all, for my 99 dollar entry fee, I received approximately 270 dollars worth of free books, and a changed life. Thank you so much, T4G! I have never felt the Spirit so powerfully.
